At Men's Resources Tasmania (MRT), we know that for too long, our health system has waited for people to get sick before stepping in. We are proud to be working with the Department of Health on The Health Revolution, a 20-year strategy designed to build a system that keeps you, your family, and your community resilient.

Following initial feedback from over 5,000 Tasmanians, the Department of Health has drafted specific actions for men’s health and wellbeing. We are hosting a Phase 2 consultation workshop to bring these draft actions back to you for testing on March 26 at Bethlehem House.

Why Your Voice Matters

This workshop is your chance to "test" these draft actions. Our CEO, Jonathan Bedloe, will facilitate the session to help us:

• Set the Timeline: Decide which health actions are urgent and which can be rolled out later.

• Map What’s Working: Identify the local programs and services already making a difference.

• Build for Success: Highlight exactly what is needed to make these new initiatives succeed.

• Design with Purpose: Ensure every action is practical and relevant for men and boys.

The Tasmanian Suicide Prevention Forum is a day for connection, learning, and collaboration. It brings together community members, people with lived experience, and professionals from across the state to strengthen our collective response to suicide prevention.

This year’s theme, From the Ground Up, focuses on how small actions in our towns, neighbourhoods, and families can plant the seeds for connection, nurture hope, and cultivate meaningful change.

It highlights the invaluable contributions of grassroots efforts and lived experience in shaping sustainable, community-led suicide prevention.

We all know that when life gets a bit complicated and sometimes overwhelming, finding the right door to knock on shouldn’t be the hardest part. Whether you’re looking for a specific piece of advice on health and wellbeing or just trying to find a local connection to engage professionally or volunteer, navigating support services can feel like a maze.

To make things simpler, our friends over at Neighbourhood Houses Tasmania have put together what they call a Healthies Menu Card to make those doors more visible and easier to open. Beyond simply just “getting help”, the menu highlights not just a list of services but information on how to engage professionally through specialized training.

The Tasmanian Men’s Health Network (TMHN), a collaboration between Men’s Resources Tasmania and Health Promotion South, continues its mission to connect those working with men and boys across the state.

Whether you are a practitioner, advocate, or community member, join us online to share research, collaborate on policy, and support one another’s work.

Meetings are held online every two months on the second-to-last Tuesday from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
