Time for a male suicide prevention action plan

MRT will today join Glen Poole, CEO of the Australian Men’s Health Forum to launch our shared report into male suicide in Tasmania. unfortunately the statistics speak for themselves, and show we need to change course, to think differently about addressing male suicide.

Rates of male suicide have increased over the last 30 years. Tasmania has the highest rate in the nation. Most men have sought assistance in the lead-up to their suicide, and many suicide prevention services are not reaching men in the way they could.

The report will be formally launched at 10 am, Friday 9 September, at Men's Resources Tasmania office, care of Neighbourhood Houses Tasmania, 16b Elmsleigh Road, Derwent Park, TAS 7009.
